Welcome

Welcome to my website. Here you will find all you need to know about my Booted Bantams as well as my Garden Maintenance service.

I've kept Booted Bantams for about 6 years now although until now I have not been as strict as I should have been with breeding. This year(2010) I have some new Booteds from an original British strain to work with. By the end of the year I hope to have birds good enough to show at the Rare Poultry Society Club Show at The National. I have had some success at shows with my Booteds, with several 1sts and 2nds at The Welsh National, The Welsh Federation and The Royal Welsh Winter Show.

How to Support the Booted Bantam

The Booted Bantam is looked after by the Rare Poultry Society. It is standardised in 11 colours; Black, White, Blue, Lavender, Cuckoo, Black Mottled, Buff Mottled, Gold Millefleur, Lemon Millefleur, Silver Millefleur and Porcelain. Detailed descriptions of these can be found on Booted Bantams.
To help support the breed it is worth joining the RPS. By joining you are entitled to several newsletters a year, a breeders directory and eligibility to win rosettes and trophies at shows. The breed registrar is Sue Baker. As breed registrar she would like to know of any breeders of Booted Bantams, numbers and colours kept. To contact Sue, please email her at baker-goodchild@tiscali.co.uk. This will help to show the actual numbers of Booted Bantams in the UK, allow people to find stock in their area and may help to establish a Booted Bantam Club in the future.

They are commonly referred to as Sabelpoots, this is the Dutch name for them and although recognised in the UK please watch the spelling! They are Sabelpoot due to their vulture hocks or Sabels and not Sable as in the fur.
